The Head of Rio Mundo

If we contemplate the vast plain of Campo de Montiel from lagunas de Ruidera, we will observe towards the East a ridge of mountains cutting the horizon, these are the Alcaraz and Segura sierras.

From Ruidera we can make a very interesting visit to these sierras since they shelter one of the most spectacular displays of nature in all the Iberian Peninsula: the Head of river Mundo.

This is a site of great beauty having a substantial botanic and geological interest as well as numerous fauna species to delight nature lovers.

The trip can be completed with a visit to Alcatraz village where its two Renaissance towers preside over the main square.
